Common Questions

Marketing tracking, explained.

What does the Tracking Checker look for?

Analytics (Google Analytics 4, plus Microsoft Clarity and Hotjar), ad pixels and conversion tags (Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, Microsoft Ads and TikTok) and Google Tag Manager. It flags what’s missing, duplicated or no longer working.

Does it see tags inside Google Tag Manager?

Yes. Published Tag Manager containers are public, so we read the ones your page loads and check the tags inside them too - most tracking checkers only look at the page itself.

Why does it say it can’t find tracking I know is there?

Some sites load tracking only after a visitor accepts cookies, send it through server-side tagging, or bundle it deep inside app code. A page scan can’t see those. If that’s your setup, your tracking may well be working.

Why does duplicate tracking matter?

When the same tag loads twice - often once on the page and again through Tag Manager - every visit and lead is counted twice. Your reports look better than reality, and ad platforms optimize toward the wrong numbers.

What is conversion tracking, and why does it matter?

It tells an ad platform which clicks turned into leads or sales. Without it, Google and Meta can only optimize for clicks, not customers - so you pay for traffic that never converts.

Is it safe to check my site here?

Yes. We load the page the same way a visitor’s browser does and read its public code. Nothing is stored, no login is needed, and we don’t fill in forms or trigger any events.
