Common Questions

Meta tags, explained.

What are meta tags?

Short pieces of code in a page’s <head> that visitors don’t see. The title and description decide how the page appears in Google; the Open Graph tags decide the title, text and image when someone shares the link on WhatsApp, LinkedIn or Facebook.

How long should the title and description be?

Keep the title under about 60 characters and the description between roughly 120 and 160 - past that, Google usually cuts them off. Put the words people search for first, and make the description a reason to click.

Will Google always use my description?

Not always. Google sometimes writes its own snippet from the page when it thinks that better matches the search. A clear, accurate description makes it much more likely yours is used.

What size should the share image be?

1200 × 630 pixels works everywhere - WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Facebook and X. Keep important text away from the edges, as some apps crop it, and use the full address starting with https://.

What is a canonical link?

It tells search engines the main address for a page, so versions with tracking tags or different paths don’t compete with each other. Point it at the address you want to show up in Google.

When should I keep a page out of search results?

For pages nobody should land on from Google - thank-you pages, login screens, internal search results or duplicates. The noindex tag keeps them out while still letting Google follow their links.

Is my data stored?

No. The tags are built in your browser - nothing you enter is sent to us or saved.
